City commences with resurfacing of roads in Observatory, Salt River and Woodstock

29 April 2022

City of Cape Town’s Road Infrastructure Management Department will be commencing with the road resurfacing of various roads in Observatory, Salt River and Woodstock
All road resurfacing work is anticipated to be completed by Thursday, 2 June 2022, pending unforeseen delays and weather permitting. Work will take place between 07:00 and 17:00 from Mondays to Fridays.

‘We ask for residents’ patience and to be cooperative with the workers over the next month as a level of noise pollution can be expected over this time. The contractor will be on site from next week onwards to commence with minor repairs along these roads and will return the following week to start with the resurfacing’, said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

The following roads will be resurfaced during this project:

Woodstock
•       Barron Street

Salt River
•       Greef Street
•       Junction Road
•       Kent Street

Observatory
•       Kotzee Road

All road users will be affected, and traffic flow will be impacted in both directions. As such, flag personnel will regulate traffic one direction at a time.

Congestion along these roads can be expected. It is therefore recommended that road users consider alternative routes if possible.
