City celebrates Youth Day with activities across Cape Town
13 June 2016
Youth Day is also about celebrating the important role of the youth in building a vibrant society and contributing towards the diversity of our city.
Various City of Cape Town departments, together with members of the community, will participate. All media are welcome to attend.
Transport for Cape Town
On Youth Day, the City’s Mayoral Committee Member: Transport for Cape Town, Councillor Brett Herron, will hand out about 8 000 whistles to young commuters at the MyCiTi station in Reygersdal Drive in Atlantis at 10:30
The whistle handout is part of the City’s focus on the safety of women and girls in Atlantis. In 2014 the City partnered with the United Nations in a Women Safe Cities Initiative with the Atlantis community as the focus point.
Community Services
On Tuesday 14 May 2016, the City’s Sport, Recreation and Amenities Department will host a sporting event at the Valhalla Skate Park. The event will start at 14:00 and the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services and Special Projects, Alderman Belinda Walker, will be in attendance.
