City advises of water supply disruption in Tokai

22 September 2016

The City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Department will be inserting a pressure-reducing valve on the pipeline feeding a large number of properties in the Upper Tokai and Steenberg Estate areas tonight, 22 September 2016. This is a continuation of work done on 8 September 2016.

This will result in a disruption of the water supply to properties accessed via Zwaanswyk Road, from Debaren Close down to and including parts of Steenberg Estate, between 22:00 and 04:00 the following morning.

This work forms part of the City’s Water Demand Management Plan, which aims to eliminate excessive internal water pressure in the water supply pipelines, thereby reducing the likelihood of pipe bursts, the subsequent loss of good quality drinking water, and unnecessary inconvenience to consumers.

Careful consideration has been given to the planning of this work to ensure minimal supply interruption. Residents are advised to store water in clean sealed containers ahead of time for domestic use during this period. Furthermore, residents should please ensure that all taps remain in the off position as supply could return at any time.

The City regrets any inconvenience caused.
