The City’s Water and Sanitation Department is currently repairing pumps at its major pumps station at the Molteno Reservoir.
The City’s Water and Sanitation Department is currently repairing pumps at its major pumps station at the Molteno Reservoir. This pump station transfers water to reservoirs higher up in Oranjezicht as well as Camps Bay.
The small Eastern High Level, Oranjezicht, Kloof Nek and Camps Bay reservoirs only have sufficient capacity to supply water until about midday today, Friday 17 July 2020. The City therefore kindly requests that the residents and businesses in the Upper City Bowl, Camps Bay and the Atlantic Seaboard areas immediately reduce their water consumption to assist with maintaining a minimal water supply to the area until the repair of the pumps is completed.
Every effort is being made to complete the repairs and restore the water supply.
The City will be making standpipes available at De Waal Park where residents can collect water for domestic consumption during this period.
The City apologises for any inconvenience caused during this time. It is however imperative that the water supply infrastructure is maintained effectively to ensure a continued, reliable supply of drinking water to residents.
