City advises of possible water supply disruption in the Wynberg area

2 March 2021

The City’s Water and Sanitation Department needs to do an urgent assessment of a leaking 400mm diameter water supply main on the corner of Rosmead and Wetton Roads tonight, Tuesday, 2 March 2021.

The water main will be shut off at 21:00 to assess the condition of the pipe. Residents may experience low water pressure to no water during this period, however efforts are being made to minimise the impact.

If repair work is undertaken, it should be completed by 06:00 on Wednesday morning unless there are unforeseen complications.

This work was scheduled for a time that will be least disruptive, as it will also affect traffic.

Residents are kindly requested to store water upfront in clean, sealed containers for domestic use and to keep their taps closed during this period to prevent any water loss and/or damage when the supply is restored.

The City sincerely regrets any inconvenience, but it is imperative that it maintains its water supply infrastructure to benefit its consumers
