City advises of critical electricity infrastructure upgrade in Area South

CANCELLED: Residents in Area South are advised that planned critical electricity infrastructure upgrade work which was to take place this weekend has been cancelled due to upcoming inclement weather and the impact wet windy weather has on performing electrical work safely. The City will advise residents regarding the new date for the work in due course.The critical overhead infrastructure supplies electricity to:
- Grassy Park
- Pelican Park
- Muizenberg
- Steenberg
- Sun Valley
- Clovelly
It is important to note that residents will have electricity supply while the work is being carried out. Residents are advised that electricity supply interruptions may occur while the work is being done. Sometimes, tripping can occur, among other things.
Residents are advised to check the City’s official communication channels, including the City’s social media channels, or contact the Call Centre for any updates on the upgrade work.
Some news channels could imply that this work could affect electricity supply to all areas in the city. This is not true.
The infrastructure upgrades will take place from:
- 22:00 on Friday, 25 October 2024 to 05:00 on Monday, 28 October 2024 and will not impact supply to residents.
