Celebrating creativity and creating opportunities across industries at FAME Week Africa

28 October 2026

FAME Week puts film, fashion and entertainment first

The film, fashion and entertainment industries take centre stage at FAME Week Africa, bringing together local and international industry stakeholders and emerging talent.

The City of Cape Town is once again partnering with FAME Week Africa, which officially opened at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) this morning, bringing together local and international creatives to celebrate collaboration, innovation and opportunities across the creative industries.

The City is represented at the festival by Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith, who officially opened the event.

‘We are proud to support festivals such as FAME Week Africa, which celebrate our creative industries and connect local and international talent. This year, we’re especially excited to showcase the work of emerging filmmakers from our local institutions on the big screen. We look forward to building industry connections and championing Cape Town as a leading film destination,’ said Alderman Smith, who also opened the City of Cape Town/Film Cape Town stand on the FAME Week Africa exhibition floor.

The stand will showcase and highlight short films by talented emerging filmmakers from some of Cape Town’s tertiary and film institutions.

This year, the City is partnering with students from AFDA, the Animation School, Film School Africa, CPUT, UCT, SAE and Kiddzpas Film Studio whose films will be showcased at the pop-up cinema.

The short films are a combination of animation, live action, fiction and non-fiction, which will play between 10:00 – 15:30 from Wednesday, 28 October to Friday, 30 October.

FAME Week Africa brings together people shaping the future of the creative economy, connecting African talent with international markets and creating opportunities for collaboration, knowledge-sharing and growth across film, music, fashion and the wider creative industries.

Attendees can look forward to a dynamic programme of insightful content sessions, film screenings, live music, curated exhibitions and networking opportunities designed to connect creatives with global partners, investors and audiences.

The City of Cape Town will also host a panel discussion, Creating Across Industries, exploring the power of collaboration across film, music, performance and the wider creative sector.
