CDWP helps promote learning through play with donation to Khayelitsha ECD
15 November 2023
The Community Development Workers Programme (CDWP), a collaboration between the City’s Urban Waste Management Directorate and the Western Cape Government’s Department of Local Government, has facilitated a donation of educational toys, sports equipment, and a recycling bin to the Injabulo Educare Centre in Khayelitsha.
The CDWP aims to build a bridge between government and communities to help the communities access support. It helps communities exercise their voice so they can be heard by the relevant authorities.
One of the recent interventions by the programme is the donation of toys and sports equipment to the Injabulo Educare Centre in Khayelitsha, as well as assisting the centre with registration on the Western Cape Government Department of Social Development ECD database. ECDs on this database are subject to regular assessment and quality control, giving parents the confidence that their children will be well taken care of.
The donation also included a recycling bin, and the principal was provided with contact details of buy-back centres that could purchase recyclable waste from the facility, providing an extra source of funding.
