The City of Cape Town has ramped up testing and education around COVID-19 to identify symptoms and take proactive steps to limit the spread of the Coronavirus.‘Since the start of the lockdown we have been distributing the thousands of masks that POLO SA donated to the city. We have focused our distributions on communities which need it most. We will continue to do so in an effort to flatten the curve. Wearing a mask when out in public is an effective way to limit the spread of the virus and we are grateful for the continued support from the private sector,’ said Executive Mayor Dan Plato.
The City of Cape Town has ramped up testing and education around COVID-19 to identify symptoms and take proactive steps to limit the spread of the Coronavirus.
The national lockdown which came into effect on 26 March 2020, has compelled us to adapt to new ways of protecting our health and safety. As we continue to fight the Coronavirus, please keep following the regulations by wearing a mask when you leave home, washing your hands regularly, practicing social distancing and not touching your face. We have the individual responsibility to help limit the spread of COVID-19.
‘With the assistance of POLO South Africa and the Design Indaba, we have distributed 130 000 cloth reusable masks to our most vulnerable communities. The rest of the masks were sent to our frontline staff like Law Enforcement, DRM, and Transport. I am thankful for the donation, which is helping us protect our residents and officials,’ said Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services & Health Councillor Zahid Badroodien.
‘In this hour of need, we as a company care about the wellbeing of our fellow South Africans and our pledge of 250 000 masks is our contribution. We thank our staff for responding positively to this challenge. We also thank Mayor Dan Plato, Councillor Zahid Badroodien and their teams for their swift distribution,’ said AK Peer, POLO South Africa Chairman.
These masks are washable, reusable, durable and are an important tool to curb infection.
