Blaauwberg residents requested to reduce water consumption on Thursday and Friday

12 August 2020

The City of Cape Town will be performing an upgrade on the water supply network in the Blaauwberg area

The City of Cape Town is happy to announce that the 700mm bulk water supply line feeding the Blaauwberg area will be upgraded over the next two days. The work will commence at midnight (00:00) on Thursday, 13 August 2020 and is scheduled to be completed by 18:00 on Friday, 14 August 2020.

Water supply has been rerouted from other areas to help sustain water availability during the works, however Blaauwberg, Melkbosstrand, Duynefontein, Atlantic Beach and the rural areas between Melkbosstrand and Atlantis will experience lower water pressure while the upgrade is in progress. As above, residents are asked to please reduce unnecessary or non-essential water consumption during these times to prevent possible outages if demand exceeds the limited available supply. Should a supply disruption occur, please ensure taps are closed during this period to prevent water loss and water damage when the water supply is restored.

The City sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused, but it is imperative that we improve our water supply infrastructure to a standard that will ensure the provision of good quality drinking water to our residents.
