The construction of the Eindhoven affordable housing project started in April 2021and once it is completed, it will provide 201 Breaking New Ground opportunities to residents.

Thus far, 75 homes were handed over at the Eindhoven housing project, and the project will be completed in March next year, if all goes according to plan. The City thanks the community and residents for their support as it continues to provide homes to beneficiaries across the city.

The Eindhoven and The Hague housing projects will provide more than 2 400 opportunities for beneficiaries.

Beneficiaries of the BNG houses are selected in accordance with the City’s Housing Allocation Policy and the City’s Housing Needs Register to ensure that housing opportunities are made available in a fair and transparent manner that prevents queue jumping and to those who qualify for housing as per the South African legislation.

‘Housing allocation is based on a first come, first served basis and takes age and special needs into consideration, and it is strictly controlled.

‘The City is dedicated to housing provision and will continue to deliver various types of opportunities that will empower many more residents across the city, be it through State-subsidised housing, site and service, rental and other affordable housing options. Residents should visit their nearest housing office to find out more about the available opportunities, and how to apply. Residents must remember to keep their information updated on our records so that they are alerted when an opportunity becomes available,’ said the City’s Executive Director, Human Settlements Directorate, Nolwandle Gqiba.
