Rollout of Home Composting Containers
In addition, 200 home composting containers will be distributed to residents at this event, at no charge, from the Revenue Management branch’s table. Containers will be distributed on a first-come-first-served basis. Residents must bring a recent municipal account and their ID book/card to benefit.
Home composting containers assist with diversion of organic waste from landfill, extending our available landfill airspace and reducing the global warming potential of landfills.
‘The Basket of Waste Services Roadshow aims to raise awareness on how to dispose of waste correctly and minimise illegal dumping, which is degrading our communities. Residents have a key part to play. We also want to hear thoughts and suggestions from communities on how resources can be used more effectively in their areas. We will always take thoughts and advice into consideration,’ said Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Waste Management, Alderman Grant Twigg.
