The Provincial taxi registrar has suspended the registration certificate of the CATA Langa Inter-township Taxi Association for six months. This does not impact the commuters of Langa nor the operators who have valid operating licenses and valid route permits. 

The suspension is administrative in that no new licenses or routes may be applied for, nor existing licenses or routes renewed until the six-month period is reached or reviewed.

Engagements with the industry confirm that commuters can rely on the minibus taxi industry for the Monday morning commute and that all other public transport services will be operating.

SAPS, City and Provincial safety services will continue with visibility and surveillance of various routes, ranks and stations.
