New concrete tables and stools were recently installed at a play park in Acacia Road, Lotus River, reports Cllr William Akim of Subcouncil 18. The upgrade was made possible thanks to a grant of R29 000 from the City Parks Department. In total, 5 new tables and 20 stools have been installed, with work commencing on 4 April and concluding on 6 April 2016.
Visitors to the park are now able to relax in the park and can use the new park furniture to have picnics, to read in the open air or simply to keep an eye on their youngsters at play. Since the park is in easy walking distance from many residences, the community is making good use of the facility and this is helping to ensure that the park remains safe.
Residents are requested to assist the Parks Department to maintain the park furniture by actively utilising the park, and reporting any instances of vandalism or anti-social behaviour to Law Enforcement on 021 596 1999.
