St James Beach
About
St James Beach is famous for its colourful collection of bathing boxes set alongside its tidal pool. The tidal pool, which backs onto a sandy beach, offers a safe swimming spot and is popular with families. The beach is relatively sheltered from the southeaster and is accessed via a subway beneath the railway line. Although this beach is considered safe for swimming, it is recommended that beach goers only swim where and when a lifeguard is on duty.
A walkway along the sea wall allows for pleasant seaside strolls. Local surfers can often be seen riding the reef break here, known as ‘Off the Wall in False Bay’.
