About
The Potsdam Sustainability Campus is a regenerative, nature-positive, carbon-neutral, and inclusive place for learning about community well-being. It offers opportunities for innovative, collaborative exploration and experimentation with regenerative design thinking regarding carbon-positive sustainable practices within the built environment.
Potsdam Sustainability Campus Concept Design
Envisioned as a City-owned exhibition platform, offering learning- and knowledge-development opportunities for a variety of regenerative practices, the programme aims to:
- help unpack and meet carbon neutrality targets for 2030 and 2050 towards a carbon-positive city through the actions on site; and
- provide an opportunity for broader discussions as a learning and experimentation hub.

Potsdam Sustainability Campus Programme.
The benefits of this campus include:
- building stronger communities with enhanced resilience to issues around food security, water and waste management and energy;
- using the site to pilot new processes and approaches to address climate change and help shape our response to the SDGs, carbon neutrality and other sustainability pledges before mainstream rollout across the metro; and
- building partnership opportunities with stakeholders such as tertiary institutions and international governmental agencies.
This supports the United Nations’
17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) while aligning with the City’s
Integrated Development Plan (IDP), policies and strategies, showcasing various benefits in one location.

The site is strategically located on the corner of Blaauwberg and Potsdam Roads and has an agricultural zoning, making it well suited for the sustainability campus.
