Energy efficiency in City Buildings projectEnergy efficiency in City Buildings project<img alt="" src="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/cityassets/PublishingImages/Environemental-Resource-Management-Header.jpg" style="BORDER:0px solid;" /><div class="ExternalClass90D6CE50C40541B6BE2121A990883AE3"><p>The aim of the Energy Efficiency in City Buildings project is to reduce the operating costs of City buildings, saving the City money and electricity and reducing carbon emissions.</p></div><span> <h2 class="sectHeading">​​​​​​​​About</h2></span><p> The project involved the roll-out of over 450 smart meters as well as a number of retrofit projects. These include energy efficient lighting, solar water heaters, HVAC (heating, ventilating and air-conditioning), solar PV, and educating building managers and occupants about the project. </p><p>At present, the City has retrofitted 18 of its buildings with energy efficient technology and a further 11 have been retrofitted with LED lighting and motion sensors.
