Waste delays expected due to inclement weather

<p>The City of Cape Town’s Urban Waste Management Directorate advises residents that, due to flooding, we are expecting delays in the refuse collection service. Schaapkraal Drop-off has also been closed temporarily until further notice. <br></p>

<p>Residents are advised that refuse collection delays are expected for the rest of the week due to flooding. This has affected the movement of vehicles. </p><p>Teams are currently battling to clear backlogs that have developed so far. The impact of rainy conditions are also slowing the teams down, and there is likely to be a knock-on effect on refuse collection schedules for the rest of the week. </p><p>If you are affected please take your bin out each day until it is collected. Currently, delays are not extending beyond one day in most cases i.e. refuse is being picked up the day after scheduled collection. Teams will work over the weekend to clear any backlog that still exists at the close of business on Friday, 30 August. </p><p>The City is working on contingencies to ensure service delivery as far as possible. We ask residents to bear with us during this challenging time.</p><p><strong>Schaapkraal Drop-off</strong></p><p>The Schaapkraal Drop-off is currently closed due to flooding. We urge residents to retain their waste until the site reopens or make use of closer alternatives.
