Cape Town 10k reroutes to iconic finish for 2026 edition Cape Town 10k reroutes to iconic finish for 2026 edition <img alt="" src="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/cityassets/PublishingImages/City%20news.jpg" style="BORDER:0px solid;" /><p>​The Absa Run Your City Cape Town 10k, taking place on 10 May 2026, is making amendments to its route for the 11th edition. The City would like to advise residents and motorists on the impact of these changes.</p><p>​For the first time in its 11-year history, the race will finish on the iconic Grand Parade with a backdrop of City Hall and Table Mountain. </p><p>The new finish location means that the route will have to be reconfigured to  accommodate the end stage and account for 10km in the reroute. </p><span><figure class="subtopic-fullsize-img"><img class="responsive" src="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/cityassets/Media%20Images%202/Run%20your%20City%20Cape%20Town%20May%202025%20%c2%a9Mark%20Sampson-255.jpg" alt="" style="width:949px;" /></figure>​​</span><p>The first half of the race will remain the same, with the athletes setting off from Woodbridge Island in Milnerton, making their way through Paarden Island and then into the city centre via the N1 and FW De Klerk Boulevard.   </p><p>Once in the city, the route will divert at the Coen Steytler Roundabout into Lower Long Street via Walter Sisulu Avenue. </p><p>The runners will head up 1,2km on Long Street, turn into Wale Street, down Adderley Street, before making a final turn onto Darling Street for a finish in front of the ‘Grand Old Dame’. </p><p>The race will set off from Woodbridge Island at 09:00.</p><span><figure class="subtopic-fullsize-img"><img class="responsive" src="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/cityassets/Media%20Images%202/Run%20your%20City%201.jpg" alt="" style="width:888px;" /></figure><strong>​​Road Closures </strong></span><p> <br>To accommodate the safe hosting of this major event, several road closures will be implemented over the weekend, in some parts of the CBD starting on Friday evening. </p><p>Motorists are advised to plan their journeys in advance and consider alternative routes. </p><p>Key roads along the route, as well as those intersecting with it, will be impacted for several hours on Sunday, 10 May.</p><p>These include: </p><ul><li><div style="text-align:left;">Marine Drive (between Loxton Road and Boundary Road) </div></li><li><div style="text-align:left;">Marine Drive (between Boundary Road and the N1 off ramp) </div></li><li><div style="text-align:left;">The N1 lane outbound from the Marine Drive off ramp </div></li><li><div style="text-align:left;">Christiaan Barnard Street (between FW De Klerk Boulevard inbound and outbound) </div></li><li><div style="text-align:left;">Heerengracht Street (between FW De Klerk Boulevard and Walter Sisulu Avenue) </div></li><li><div style="text-align:left;">Long Street </div></li><li><div style="text-align:left;">Wale Street </div></li><li><div style="text-align:left;">Adderley Street  </div></li><li><div style="text-align:left;">Darling Street  </div></li></ul><p>A full list of road closures can be found here: <a href="https://bit.ly/42zooyp" target="_blank">https://bit.ly/42zooyp</a></p><span></span><span><figure class="subtopic-fullsize-img"><img class="responsive" src="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/cityassets/Media%20Images%202/Run%20your%20City%20%2010K%20Road%20Closures.jpg" alt="" style="width:949px;" /></figure>​​The race day road closures will also have an impact on several MyCiTi routes in the CBD and on the service to Hout Bay/Hangberg.  <br>  <br>For more information on impacted stops and deviations, visit the <a href="https://www.myciti.org.za/en/timetables/planned-service-disruptions/" target="_blank">MyCiTi website</a>.   </span><p> </p><p><strong>Park and Ride </strong></p><p>A dedicated shuttle service will transport participants from the Golden Arrow Bus Terminus (on Castle Street) to the start line in Milnerton.</p><p>Buses will start operating from 05:30, with the final bus leaving at 08:30. </p><p>Parking is available at the Golden Acre. There will be no parking on the Grand Parade. </p><p>Runners are encouraged to park early, make their way to the Golden Acre, and hop on the shuttle for a smooth and stress-free trip to the start. <br> <br>Post-race, shuttles will be available to return participants to the start venue at Woodbridge Island from 10:00 until 13:00.
