What we do
Our department’s vision is to be a world leader in the valuation of property, with a reputation for delivering reliable appraisals in a professional manner.
Our mission is to deliver a high quality and impartial valuation service to our customers to sustain a cost effective, just and accurate valuation roll in the provision of fair and equitable rates for the City. Our property valuations are performed by competent and well-trained staff in accordance with the prescriptions of the Local Government Municipal Property Rates Act of 2004 and Council policies.

We include
The department is structured into five functional areas:
- Valuation operations – includes the implementation of valuation methods and approaches and standards to produce the General Valuation Roll
- Valuation surveys and quality – responsible for the data collection that supports the valuation process
- Valuation data and business systems – responsible for providing data and systems support including network and infrastructure, and computer assisted mass appraisal modelling
- Valuation business environment – responsible for customer care, objections and appeals
- Business Integration and Valuation Regulation – responsible for the Rates Policy, oversight of valuations related legislative requirements, reporting, and guidance on business and development strategies
