Apply for a temporary structure
Events, informal trading markets and building sites are all examples of where you will typically find temporary structures. To ensure public safety, you will need permission to erect a temporary structure.
How to apply
A temporary structure could be applied for as part of
a building application for example, a builder’s shed on site for storage. A temporary structure could also be a tent, stand or stage and permission to erect such a structure forms part of your
events permit.
In either case, it is best to complete the forms as part of your general application as your temporary structure would not be an isolated application. If you are simply looking for the necessary forms, you can download the general forms in the Document downloads section below, namely:
- BDM11 – Application for the erection of a temporary structure in terms of National Building Regulation A23 and the Community Fire Safety By-Law
- BDM12 – Appointment form for competent person: Temporary Structure
- BDM13 – Completion certificate: Special Events (this form is completed by the appointed competent person specified in BDM12)
