<span> <h2 class="sectHeading">How to register your pet</h2> <span> <div class="notification with-heading dark-copy pink bg-light-grey"><div class="graphic with-border"> <i class="info note"></i> </div><div class="desc"><h4>Please note</h4><p> According to the <a href="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Bylaws%20and%20policies/Animals%20By-law%202010.pdf" target="_blank">Animal Keeping By-law</a>, if your permit to keep a cat or dog has been cancelled; you previously had a cat or dog removed from your care, or you have a previous criminal conviction or civil judgment against you in respect of a dog or cat in your care then you may not keep a dog or cat - unless the City determines otherwise.</p></div></div></span> <p>Our <a href="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Bylaws%20and%20policies/Animals%20By-law%202010.pdf" target="_blank">Animal Keeping By-law</a> specifies how many pets you can own based on the size of your property. Pet owners are required to register their pets with the City to manage Cape Town’s animal population.
