<h2 class="sectHeading">Volunteer</h2></span><p>Volunteers will help the department carry out standby duties, including at fire stations, first aid rooms and during flooding situations. Volunteers can also assist with large scale events that draw big crowds, such as the Cape Town Cycle Tour and minstrel events.
<br>As a volunteer, you will need to be a team player who is eager to serve his/her community in a voluntary capacity, which also includes attending training sessions and meetings. The City will accept volunteers from the age of 16 (parental consent is required for those falling within the 16 – 18 age bracket) and those without a criminal record.
