Volunteer with the Disaster Risk Management Centre
The City is accepting volunteers to assist Disaster Risk Management across a variety of functions.
About
Volunteers will help the department carry out standby duties, including:
- at fire stations,
- in the first aid rooms,
- during flooding situations, and
- at large scale events that draw big crowds, such as the Cape Town Cycle Tour and minstrel events.

City's Volunteer Portal to apply for volunteer opportunities.
As a volunteer, you must:
- be a team player who is eager to serve his/her community in a voluntary capacity, which includes attending training sessions and meetings.
- be 16 or older (parental consent is required for those falling into the 16 – 18 age bracket)
- have a clean criminal record.

Volunteers will be located at various bases across the City (Atlantis, Athlone, Belhar, Fish Hoek, Khayelitsha, Macassar, Melkbosstrand, Milnerton, Melton Rose, Mitchells Plain, Ottery, Scottsdene, and Strand).
