Apply for refund of licensing fees

You can apply for a refund of your vehicle licensing fees within three months of your vehicle being de-registered due to the vehicle being stolen, demolished, or deemed permanently unfit for the road.

How to apply

Step 1: Download and complete the Refund of Licence Fees Application Form at the bottom of the page.

Include with your application:

a copy of the motor vehicle licence receipt;
a copy of the deregistration certificate; and
a copy of acceptable identification.

Step 2:
Submit your completed application form and supporting documents to the Western Cape Government (WCG):

When your application is approved by the WCG, your fees will be refunded to you.
