Apply for property marketing agent permit

If you are a fully certified property marketing agent intending to sell, market, let, lease or auction properties on City-owned land, then you will need to apply for a permit from the City.

How to apply

Please note

If you let or sell properties and do not use City land when putting out your to let, for sale, auction or sold boards, then you do not need to apply for a permit.

Step 1: Download and fill out the Application for New Registration of Fully Certified Agents and Auctioneers Form, which you can find in the document downloads section below.

Attach to your application:

  • copy of your current Fidelity Fund Certificate (FFC); if you do not have a current copy, then a copy of the previous year’s FCC, with proof that you have applied for a new one
  • certified copy of your ID document
  • municipal business partner number – which can be found on your personal municipal rates invoice (if you do not have a business partner number, you will need to bring proof of address in order to create one)

Step 2: Submit your completed application at your nearest municipal office (see below).

You will also be requested to pay the re-registration fee which is calculated based on Environmental and Heritage Management tariffs and charges in the document downloads below

Step 3: If your application is successful, you will be issued with six permit stickers, which you can place on your directional boards.

Payment

We accept the following methods of payment:

  • Cash, debit and/or credit card: We will cover the bank cost on a cash, debit and/or credit card payment on an amount above R7000 per transaction. We absorb such costs in respect of single payments of R7000 and below.
  • Direct deposit at any Nedbank branch: Insert your payment reference number on your deposit slip
  • Electronic payments (EFT): Select the City of Cape Town as a bank listed beneficiary on your bank's website. Use your 9 - digit reference number in the beneficiary account number/ payment reference field.
