MRA 18SUB7/1/2019 7.6 See discussion on agenda item 18SUB14/01/19,below : Cllr Siva Moodley, recused himself as a member of the general appeals committee Cllr Gerry Gordon, as Ward Cllr stated that she was supportive of communities who was objecting to the application for proposed lease of a portion of City owned land ,Erf 875 Rooikrans Avenue, Zeekoevlei for telecommunication infrastructure purposes. Cllr Gerry Gordon highlighted that Zeekoevlei has RAMSAR status / wetland site and that the fauna and flora life must be protected and preserved, therefore do not support the application. The House agreed not to Support the application at Erf 875, Rooikrans Avenue,Zeekoevlei. SUBCOUNCIL 18 RESOLVED : Subcouncil 18 recommended that the lease of portion of City land, being a portion of Erf 875, Rooikrans Avenue, shown hatched and lettered ABCD on the attached sketch LT1453v2 marked Annexure A, in extent approximately ± 100 m², to Vodacom(Pty) Ltd, BE REFUSED based on the following reasons : 1)That objections were received from community members relating to health concerns around a cellmast ; 2)That Zeekoevlei has RAMSAR status and is a wetland site that must be protected ; 3)The the fauna and flora life in Zeekoevlei area must be preserved.
