Subcouncil to ACCEPT the outstanding item received from Subcouncil 14 and Subcouncil 3 to inform the transferring Subcouncil of its acceptance.

R Moses mentioned that no feedback or update on the progress on this matter was received. She indicated that this matter is currently between Recreation and Parks, the asset owner, and Legal Services. Cllr Steenberg indicated that the matter remains the same. He stated that during the month of September 2025 a picket was held and a memorandum handed over to the City of Cape Town. The memorandum dealt with the lack of basic service delivery. Cllr Steenberg mentioned that slow progress is being made and that services are being introduced by the respective line departments. He also stated that the order of eviction is still in progress. He further stated that although basic services are a consequential requirement and it may not work well with the current legal process that is in progress. Cllr Ah Sing stated that in his experience with the legal services department and the process of evictions, that the matter be dealt with the legal services department and not be interfered with. He stated that once legal services has an update or outcome this will be communicated to the relevant stakeholders, inclusive of the Subcouncil and ward councillor. Cllr Steenberg concurred with Cllr Ah Sing and further stated hence is focus is on the delivery of services as this remains a requirement and that the legal matter be dealt with the respective line department and legal services department. The Subcouncil Manager reported that the status quo remains the same and that the legal process of the eviction has not been completed yet, which is delaying the erection and implementation of the ablution facilities to be erected. She further mentioned that the residents of the Maitland Cemetery will be conducting an approved gathering on the 19 September 2025 between 10:00 – 12:00 to submit a petition or memorandum to the COCT. PPU and the Ward Councillor will be present to receive the memorandum or petition and the matter will follow it course.
