That based on an assessment and having considered the City of Cape Town’s Traffic Calming Policy, traffic calming BE SUPPORTED along Ribbok Street and  2x speed humps be recommended on the positions marked in red on the map as contained in the report.  To be placed on the awaiting funds schedule.

  1. Ward 103:  Athens Street, Uitzicht (TNDN4619).  A request for a traffic calming investigation was received from Anne-Rika van Jaarsveld.

That based on the assessment and having considered the City of Cape Town’s Traffic Calming Policy, traffic calming NOT BE SUPPORTED along Athens Street, Uitzicht, Langeberg Ridge for the reasons as reflected below:

REASONS FOR NON-SUPPORT AS RECEIVED FROM TRANSPORT (Akhona Maseko)

  • Athens Street is a class 5 residential road located within a low-density residential area of Uitzicht.
  • Traffic calming measures should first and foremost be provided to protect the most vulnerable road users where they occur in the largest numbers, specifically in the vicinity of public facilities. The roads adjacent to and leading to schools should therefore be the primary focus of the traffic calming programme

  • Our assessment indicated that there are no schools or any public amenities along the length of Athens Street that may attract significant volumes of vulnerable pedestrian activity directly into the road and therefore pedestrian/vehicle conflict can be considered low on this road.

  1. Ward 105:  Murray & Herta Erna Intersection (TNDN4691).   A request for a traffic calming investigation was received from Karien van Zyl. The outcome of the investigation is reflected in Annexure C
