Resolution detail

RESOLVED That the portions of erven 9752, 9753 and 9755 Delft situated at corner of Delft Main and Sandelhout Roads, Delft, in extent ± 6 400 m² and as indicated as ABCDEFGHJKL on plan 130010355 attached as annexure “A”, be reserved for the Informal Settlements Department BE NOT SUPPORTED based on the comments submitted by the Chairperson and Councilors:
 

• Chairperson stated that the TRA will become the City’s problem and that they are not managed at all.
• Cllr P Sono stated that there is many issues at the TRA’s. Murders are happening on a weekly basis and the evictees are nearer to the CBD than Delft and the community and Cllrs cannot allow another TRA.
• Chairperson stated that it is difficult to obtain who responsible is for the maintenance of the TRA’s.
• Chairperson stated that he would like to know what other options were explored and why Delft were identified because there is already five existing TRA’s.
• Cllr M Adonis agreed with Chairperson and cannot make Delft a dumping site, Delft is number one in crime within the City of Cape Town.
• Cllr P Tause reported that there was a proposal made for business on the identified land. She also mentioned as a Ward Councillor she is not supporting the reservation.
