Cllr Nikelo introduced the report and said that the item is for noting. He asked if the official is present in the meeting and to take the meeting through. Mr. September said that the report is for noting and he will answer any questions on it. Cllr Cassiem said that he would like to know about the burglary at Rylands Library. Mr. September there the criminals broke the windows and the door. There was no major damage and have placed a night security. An insurance claim is in process. Cllr Nikelo asked when the vacancy of the Principal Librarian is going to be filled. Mr. September said that there are two vacancies, one each at Heideveld and Athlone Libraries. They have shortlisted candidates and they will be conducting assessments soon, hoping to fill the vacancies by 1 st April 2024. Cllr Adams said that in Bridgetown Library they have installed Wi-Fi, which the community will be able to access. Cllr Moses welcomed the report and applauded the official for a job well done in making sure that the vacancy will be filled. He also said that he would like to know when they are getting Wi-Fi for the Heideveld Library. Mr. September said that the Wi-Fi process is not determined by their department, but by Information Systems and Technology. Cllr Adams noted the report and Cllr Moses seconded. There was unanimous agreement with the resolution. RESOLVED That the report on Library and Information services quarterly activity report for period 1 October 2023 to 31 December 2023 BE NOTED.
