Resolution detail

RESOLVED that having considered the City of Cape Town Traffic Calming Policy and the recommendation from Transport Planning & Network Management Department;
 

1. Constitution Street between McKenzie Street and Drury Street is classified as a Class 5 Local Street located within a medium-density residential area of District Six.

2. McKenzie Road Park is located in close proximity to the study area, which may attract vulnerable pedestrian activity across the study roadway.

3.  Therefore, the potential for pedestrian/vehicle conflict along Constitution Street between McKenzie Street and Drury Street can be considered high and compliant with Section 7(3) of the Traffic Calming Policy.

4. Given the above, it is recommended to implement two speed humps along Constitution Street between McKenzie Street and Drury Street. The above recommendations are illustrated in DRAWING 4620/TNDC2924/01..
