Cllr N Makasi stated that an urgent meeting needs to be arranged with Eugene to discuss the issues pertaining to the Gugulethu swimming pools and for the Department to provide full report in this regard.

L Bobo indicated that a meeting was held re. the swimming pool matters however, he was not part of this discussion.
Cllr T Mjuza indicated that there was a meeting held for the swimming pools and it was discovered there were huge problems, there is an issue with timeframes and this matter needs to be looked cautiously.
Cllr L Sonyoka concurred with Cllr Mjuza and at that meeting, the official promised to submit a report to the Subcouncil as this matter has huge concerns regarding the possible closure of the pools, the report is required from this Line department.

E Adams indicated that the Emthonjeni Swimming pool will reopen soon, some of the sways still needs to be finalized, all work to be completed by 22nd November 2024, the testing will be done by 23 – 25 November 2024 and the reopening of the pool will be done on the 27th November 2024 then as from 06th December 2024 it will be opened daily.
Vulindlela Pool will not be open as there are still major upgrades that needs to take place, there is not detailed report as the moment but will keep the Subcouncil updated in this regard.
Cllr M Gadeni noted both reports for the swimming pools and requested a written report in this regard for noting by the Subcouncil.
E Adams said that he will liaise further with Management and refer back to the Subcouncil.
Cllr T Mjuza thanked the report and asked what are the possibilities of changing the proposals for Vulindlela swimming pool.
Cllr L Sonyoka welcomed the report appreciated the work done to the pool and also seconded the request for a written report in order for it to be endorsed by the Subcouncil.

L Bobo reported that the Emthonjeni swimming pool is open and still waiting on further report regarding the Vulindlela swimming pool.
Cllr L Sonyoka indicated that there is a concern regarding the overpopulation at Emthonjeni swimming pool and is going to collapse, there must be operating hours.
Cllr M Gadeni commented that there was a report for operating hours of Emthonjeni swimming pool and said that it was promised that the Vulindlela swimming pool will be reopen by the end of this year.
L Bobo indicated that the Vulindlela is not going to open soon as there are major as it was knocked off by motor vehicle
