MOTION BY CLLR VILJOEN: INVESTIGATION ON THE STATUS OF THE VAN RIEBEECKSHOF PUBLIC OPEN SPACE AREA (WARD 70) IN ORDER TO ESTABLISH WHETHER IT QUALIFIES AS A POSSIBLE CONSERVATION AREA.

UNANIMOUSLY RESOLVED
 
  1. That Biodiversity Management BE TASKED to conduct an assessment of the POS within the Van Riebeeckshof area (inclusive of erven 35973, 35974, 37459 and 37667, but not only limited to such erven and / or other erven within the area of assessment) to establish whether such erven may qualify as some type conservation area.  Subcouncil 7 be informed of the timelines required to conduct the said assessments.
 
  1. That parallel to (a) the City’s Legal Department in conjunction with Biodiversity Management and Recreation and Parks BE TASKED to revisit the draft Memorandum of Understanding prepared in 2008 to address the management of such possible conservation areas and specific interested groups within the Van Riebeeckshof area / Ward 70 and such report BE SUBMITTED to the September meeting cycle of Subcouncil 7.
