Resolution detail
The Subcouncil Chairperson introduced this item and gave an opportunity to the Subcouncil Manager to give a detailed feedback. The Subcouncil Manager indicated that the report was for noting. The structure of the report stays the same from month to month, the only thing that changes are the numbers. Ward 46 was still leading with the highest number of reported service requests. In the last meeting, there was a request of engaging with electricity and human settlement. Human settlement concerns will be put in the Activity day Agenda, they will follow up with the request. The Subcouncil Chairperson still had the same concern of ward 40 having the lowest number of reported service requests. He believes that ward 40 has more challenges as compared to other wards. He highlighted that all ward committee members should know how to report service requests such as electricity faults, blocked drains, fire and pothole. He further requested for the information of reporting services to be made a first item in ward committee meetings. He further encouraged Cllrs to report service request that they see even when they are driving around. He emphasized that every official should be able to report service requests. He mentioned that Roads is one of the lessreported issues. Two community members from ward 30 and ward 46 wanted clarity regarding grass cutting and mentioned they have been requesting meetings with the ward Cllrs with no luck. The Subcouncil Chairperson advised them to get email addresses of the ward Cllrs and further be in contact with the ward clerks to book appointments. Cllr Cassiem requested a roaster of grass cutting from Mr. Cedras. Cllr Moses indicated that the issue of cutting veggies is supposed to be a responsibility of transport but there is communication that they do not cut on the road reserved. When parks cuts, the bill goes to the transport department and this is creating many challenges within the communities. He further requested grass-cutting report from Mr. Cedras. Mr. Cedras indicated that they do not have a mowing tender in place. He mentioned there is no money to be exchanged between departments for mowing, all road reserved belongs to roads but in future there will be a mowing policy. His department has been maintaining the roads over the years. However, in future there will be an SOP or a service level agreement between the two departments. He added that they do not cut people’s front pavements, they only cut major roads. Cllr Moses proposed noting of the report seconded by Ald Jacobs RESOLVED That the report on Service Requests in Subcouncil 14 for July 2022 BE NOTED with the comments made by Cllrs.
