WARD 21: Sondal and Somer Street, Eversdal (Between 19 – 52 ; 1 – 18 and 54 – 76 Somer Street) (TNDN 3409). An application for traffic calming measures between 19 – 52 ; 1 – 18 and 54 – 76 Somer Street as well as the sections between 19 (cnr of Somer & Sondal) – 39 (cnr of Somer & Stepping Stones) was received from Anel van Niekerk.
That the outcome of the traffic calming assessment for Sondal and Somer Street, Eversdal NOT BE SUPPORTED for the reasons as listed below:
Comment received from the Transport Department : Akhona Maseko
“Our assessment indicates that there’s a raised intersection at Kendal and Somer Road which is about 80 meters from the intersection of Sondal and Somer Street, there’s also a traffic circle along the intersection of Stepping Stones and Sondal Road which is also about 80m from the intersection in question. We do acknowledge that there’s a school but the roads surrounding the school have already been treated with calming measures.
Based on the above a raised intersection is not recommended along Somer and Sondal road.” |
