RESOLVED
 
That the application for the extension of liquor trading hours submitted by Pondorosa Liquor Store, 18 Rietvlei Road, Sarepta, Kuilsriver – WCP/033381 (renewal), Monday to Saturday from 18:00 to 20:00 for off-consumption premises BE REFUSED for the following reasons: 
                                           

1. There are nine (9) churches in Deshamdon and the wider Sarepta area
2. The Kingdom of God International Ministries church is situated in the same building above the Pondorosa Liqour Store
3. The Ebenezer Congregational church is in close proximity, with 662 members, situated  ±50m from the premises
4. The Old Apostolic Church is situated on the corner of Sarepta and Rietvlei Roads (the liquor store is situated in Rietvlei Road)
5. St Georges the Martyr with 1 500 members, is situated  about 75m from the premises, further down the road
6. The New Apostolic Church is situated ±60m from the premises
7. The Calvinist Church is situated ±60m from the premises
8. There are schools within the area and surrounding area
9. There is a pre-school ±20m away from the premises in Rietvlei Road
10. The extension of liquor trading hours will have an extremely negative impact on the area
11. The increase in gender-based-violence as well as violence against children is often directly linked to alcohol abuse
12. PD Paulse Library is situated next to the premises – frequented by young and old
13. Community Clinic is situated 30m from the premises
14. Concern regarding security risks/muggings/robberies
15. Trading from parking area takes place
16. People gathering from 09:00 on a Sunday morning to buy alcohol and churches nearby normally come out at 11:00
