Solomzi stated that an assessment was done on Buitenzorg Road and because of the steep gradient of the road, traffic calming could not be supported. The site visit was done in the vicinity of the day care and there was no really crossing of the road by the kids which is usually a motivation. He says the road traffic signs manual does not permit to implement traffic calming on roads where the slope is more than 6%.
Chairperson was satisfied with the response and indicated that the item can be removed.
RESOLVED
That the item be REMOVED from the MRA’s as traffic calming was not supported along Buitenzorg Road because of the steep gradient of the road.
