Resolution detail

RESOLVED

That it   BE NOTED that the following assessment were undertaken by the Network Development: TDA Cape Town in terms of the City of Cape Town’s Traffic Calming Policy and the outcome (attached as Annexure 1) thereof and is as follows:

Ward 11

Donovan Street, Kuilsriver

Recommend the implementation of two speed humps along Donovan Street, in the vicinity of the play Park.

Van der Stel Street, Kuilsriver

Regrettably unless proven otherwise, via quantifiable evidence, traffic cot be considered further along the aforementioned road.

Opstal Street, Kuilsriver

Recommend the implementation of two speed humps along Opstal Street in the vicinity of the open space with pedestrian desire lines.

Palmieda/Petunia Street

Recommend the implementation of two speed humps along Palmieda Street, in the vicinity of the open field, in the interest of pedestrian safety.

Ward 19

Mountfletcher Street, Kalkfontein

Recommend the implementation of one speed hump midway along Mountfletcher Street. The implementation of this traffic calming measure would unfortunately not be funded by TDA and funding will need to be secured by the Ward Councillor.

Ward 108

Admirable Street, Blue Downs

Recommend that two speed humps be implemented, one speed hump along Admirable Street and one speed hump along Commonwealth Street.

Fountainhead Street, Blue Downs

Recommend the implementation of three raised intersections along Fountainhead Street at Longevity Street, Connection Street and at Exemplary Street with one speed hump at Exemplary Street, in the interest of pedestrian safety. The Transport and Urban Development Authority (TDA) budget does not make provision for traffic calming at locations other than schools. Since this falls outside TDA’s priority educational facilities program, the policy makes provision for the Ward Councillor or private bodies to fund the implementation thereof.

Vogelvlei Main Road and Diepwater Man Road

Regretfully cannot recommend any traffic calming measures along Diepwater Main Road at this given time.
However, we recommend the implementation of two speed humps along Vogelvlei Main Road, one in close proximity to the school and one at the public open space, in the interest of pedestrian safety.

Sunbird North Street

Recommend the implementation of three speed humps in Sunbird North in the interest in pedestrian safety.

Sunbird East Street

Recommend the implementation of threes speed humps in Sunbird North in the interest of pedestrian safety.

Sunbird South Street

We do not believe that circumstances exist to justify the implementation of traffic calming measures on Sunbird South Street.
