Edwina Africa was present for this item. She informed the meeting that Area South had many activities with regards to the following topics: •Water Saving (Educating schools and children on how to save water) •Heritage Day •Career Day •Mandela Day She mentioned that these programmes ran well and support in terms of funding and assistance from various line departments was great Ms Africa also mentioned that there were a few challenges at Ocean View Library due to the gang violence. Shootouts resulted in the library operating for fewer hours. There was a problem with the alarm system and additional night time security had to be employed for the period of one month, until the alarm system was repaired. Alderman Purchase and Cllr Francke extended their gratitude to the staff at Ocean View Library for their commitment during this challenging time. The chairperson further thanked Ms Africa for a successful quarter and congratulated her for her new job as head for Area South. RESOLVED that, The contents of the above report and feedback be NOTED.
