While SAPS has not officially confirmed the nature of the device, they have handed the file over to the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks), indicating they view the matter with seriousness.</p><p>'Should the SAPS investigation confirm that this was an attempted attack on the Jewish Community Centre, I know I would speak for all Capetonians in condemning such an attempt in the strongest possible terms.</p><p>‘Cape Town is a city of peace loving people, where differences of faith and opinion are expressed loudly and fully, but always peacefully.</p><p>‘Our city has a long and proud history of being a safe city for people of all religions to live and express their faith and traditions. The primary goal was to strengthen father-son relationships by emphasising the importance of modelling positive behaviour. Additionally, the participants created art pieces that symbolise their commitment to preventing gender-based violence.</p>

It is imperative that we chart a different path if we are serious about building a safer society for women, children and men who are victims of abuse,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services and Health, Councillor Patricia van der Ross.</p><p>As part of the programme, the men and boys also developed individual and community action plans to address GBV. These plans are intended to guide their actions and commitments beyond the workshop.</p>

Statistics show that most GBV cases target women and girls, often perpetrated by men.
