Central Library events, meetings and promotions 
 
Mentoring Project for Young Writers: 3pm to 4pm
 
  • Programme kicks off on 23 January 2012. All prospective writers are welcome to attend. The programme is aimed at writers from 16 to 21 years.
 
Beginners Conversational Xhosa Classes:
    
  •  These classes take place over a period of 6 weeks. Seats are limited. Keep an eye out for updates
 
Teen discussion group: 3pm – 4pm
 
  • A Teen discussion group called Teen Thunder will meet for an hour in the Teen Zone at Central. Teens are welcome to join! These teen discussion groups take place once a month @ Central
 
PC courses: Every Tuesday morning from 9am - 10am
 
Beginners Singing Lessons: Every second Wednesday 
 
English prescribed work for school learners on show: Every Saturday at 11am in the Performing Arts and Music Library
 
Fun film show (E.g. Popular Television Series, Glee): Every Friday afternoon at 2pm
 
  •  Takes place in the Performing Arts and Music Library
 
Art classes: Every Wednesday afternoon
 
  • These classes take place in partnership with the Zonnebloem Art School
 
Art Exhibition: On-going
 
  • Can be found in the Children’s Library at Central - all art work made by the kids under the guidance of the Zonnebloem Art School 
 
Xhosa storytelling sessions: Every Thursday afternoon
 
Career Development workshops: Every second Saturday
 
  • These workshops include drawing up of CVs, preparing for job interviews, etc.
 
Poetry Circle: Every second Saturday of the month
 
  • Hosted by the Friends of Central Library (FOCAL). Everyone is welcome!
 
Business Breakfast: Every third Thursday of the month
 
  •  In partnership with Friends of Central Library (FOCAL) and Activa to promote business interests and provide network opportunities for people interested in SMMEs
