Comment on the draft revised informal trading plan for the Atlantis areaComment on the draft revised informal trading plan for the Atlantis area<img alt="" src="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/cityassets/PublishingImages/CityConnectHeader.png" style="BORDER:0px solid;" /><div class="ExternalClassD103C55F13924599B4620A1C2F728C06"><p>We are in the process of reviewing the informal trading plan for Atlantis (<a href="https://web1.capetown.gov.za/web1/councilhubonline/wardprofile?wardid=29">Ward 29 </a>and <a href="https://web1.capetown.gov.za/web1/councilhubonline/wardprofile?wardid=32">32</a>), and we want to hear from you.</p></div><span> <h2 class="sectHeading">​​​​​​​​​​About</h2></span> <p>We manage informal trading in Cape Town. </p><p> The <a href="http://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Bylaws%20and%20policies/Informal%20Trading%20By-law.pdf" target="_blank">Informal Trading By-law </a>assists us to declare an informal trading plan for any place or area within our control. The plan identifies dedicated, restricted or prohibited areas for informal trading in that place or area. </p><p> Informal trading in the Atlantis area is currently governed by an Informal Trading Plan dated 11 December 2015 (<a href="https://lawlibrary.org.za/akn/za-wc/officialGazette/provincial-gazette/2015-12-11/7544/eng%402015-12-11" target="_blank">Provincial Gazette number 7544<i class="icon link-external"></i></a>). We have identified that the existing trading plan is outdated and needs to be revised and updated due to the economic changes in the area. </p><p> Approval from Council is required as part of the process before any area can be defined as an informal trading plan area. </p><p> In terms of section 17 of the Local Government: Municipal Systems Act, Act 32 of 2000, you can submit comments to the municipality in respect of the draft revised informal trading plan. </p><p> <a href="https://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/City%20strategies%2c%20plans%20and%20frameworks/Atlantis-Draft-Informal-Trading-Plan.pdf" target="_blank">Access the draft revised informal trading plan</a>. </p> <span> <h2 class="sectHeading">​​​​​​​​​​Comment period</h2></span><span> <div class="notification with-heading dark-copy pink bg-light-grey"><div class="graphic with-border"> <i class="info note">​​​</i> </div><div class="desc"><h4>Please note</h4><p>The comment period closed on 10 March 2026.
