The development of the Khayelitsha District Hospital is an intervention to deal with health-related challenges in the area.

The hospital will provide 300 beds and provide the following services: 

• 24 Hour Casualty and Emergency Service 
  
• Ambulance Station 
  
• Modern Operating Theatres 
  
• Consulting / Counselling rooms 
  
• Treatment Area 
  
• Mortuary 
  
• Laboratory 
  
• Maternity Load
  
  

Construction work on the Khayelitsha District Hospital commenced in March 2009. As at November 2011 it was 80% complete.
