Significance

Access to water reduces the risk of water related diseases and increases the quality of life.

Implications

Households in need of piped water in the dwelling, or on the site, have decreased significantly from 15.6% in 2001 to 6.6% in 2006.  There has been a 0.1% increase in households in need of piped water in the dwelling or on the site from 2006 to 2007 with the number of households increasing by 3,526.  Of all the households who do not have piped water in the dwelling or on the site, 90.0% have access to a communal tap.
