On the 2 June 2009, the City of Cape Town’s Planning & Environment Portfolio Committee gave their support to make the following draft policies available for public participation:
- Draft City Spatial Development Framework
- Draft Spatial Development Plan/ Environmental Management Framework for the Blaauwberg District (District B)
- Draft Spatial Development Plan/ Environmental Management Framework for the Eastern District (District E)
- Draft Spatial Development Plan/ Environmental Management Framework for the Mitchells Plain – Khayelitsha District (District F)
The draft Spatial Development Plan/ Environmental Management Frameworks for the remaining five districts (the Table Bay, Northern, Tygerberg, Cape Flats and Southern Districts) will be submitted to the Planning & Environment Portfolio Committee for their support to make these draft policies available for public participation on 4 August 2009.
The Planning & Environment Portfolio Committee have also given their support for the draft Densification Strategy and the draft Development Edges Policy: Urban and Coastal Edge to be made available to the public for comment and input.
All of these draft policies will be available for comment and input by the public from August – October 2009. There will also be a formal public engagement process. For more information on this process please click on ‘How to Participate’.
