City Parks has announced that the Khayelitsha Extension Cemetery has re-opened for burials on Wednesday, 4 March. The cemetery has been unavailable for a number of months due to work being carried out on the parking area and roads within the cemetery.

Further construction work in the cemetery will take place in June, but this is unlikely to affect the use of the facility.

In order to minimise traffic congestion Saturday burials will be limited to a maximum of 10. People are encouraged to consider week day burials whenever possible, so that they can be assured easier access and a more dignified ceremony.
