Mouille Point Adventure Playground is upgraded

The playground situated at Mouille Point, Green Point has been upgraded, and now offers children new equipment that will keep them active and occupied for hours.

The playground has been redesigned to attract slightly older children with age appropriate equipment such as climbing apparatus. This will free up the common’s other playgrounds for younger children. Vandalised equipment has also been replaced.

The adventure playground, as it is otherwise known, is one of two upgrade projects undertaken by City Parks. A refurbishment on another playground situated at the Sea Point Pavillion next to the swimming pool is also currently underway, and will officially open on 26 September.

When complete, the playground will feature new equipment and a cycle path for the very young (children under six)! The project is being funded with the aid of Rotary, which has donated R20 000 to the project.

The adventure playground was officially opened at a function held by City Parks at 11am on Thursday, 4 September.

Children and their parents were treated to refreshments and a performance by the Dimitri Slavis Circus School, and participated in the ceremonial tree planting that had been arranged to raise awareness about Arbor month.

Both upgrades are part of the department’s aim to improve quality of life for the city’s residents by providing quality open spaces in which to relax, play, de-stress and recharge.
