Mayoral Committee 

The City’s Mayoral Committee (Mayco) is a group of 11 councillors (members of Council) that are appointed by the Mayor and function as a local cabinet. Each member works on different areas of municipal government. These are:

  • Finance: Alderman Ian Neilson
  • Health: Cllr Lungiswa James
  • Transport, Roads & Stormwater: Cllr Brett Herron
  • Utility Services: Cllr Shehaam Sims
  • Tourism, Events & Marketing: Cllr Grant Pascoe
  • Safety & Ssecurity: Alderman Jean-Pierre (‘JP’) Smith
  • Economic, Environmental & Spatial Planning: Alderman Belinda Walker
  • Corporate Services: Alderman Demetri Qually
  • Social & Early Childhood Development: Cllr Beverley Cortje-Alcock
  • Housing: Cllr Ernest Sonnenberg
  • Community Services: Cllr Tandeka Gqada

The current Mayco (pictured below) was appointed at a Council meeting on 1 June 2011.
