Third IRT project progress report

The third IRT project progress report, which was completed at the end of March 2010, deals with work undertaken in February 2010.

The report discusses the details of various recent milestones for the project: the announcement of a R3 Billion allocation from National Government to support the project over the next three years, the first test event run by the World Cup operating company TransPeninsula investments, the completion of a due diligence report into the project’s strategic management, and the completion of a detailed project team organisational structure.

Looking ahead to April, it describes the public participation process to be run regarding long term private sector tenders, the confirmation from SARS about how the system should deal with VAT issues, the construction of an inner city depot and the delivery of the first IRT buses.

With the World Cup Service launching in a few months, the report provides details and estimated dates of completion for all IRT infrastructure, and describes progress made in preparing advertising in the system.
